Manchester Cathedral is a rich educational resource in the heart of a vibrant city. Learning is brought to life in this vivid, historic and spiritual context where Christian worship has taken place for over 1000 years. Come and discover the potential of this amazing living building!
The Education Department welcomes over 4000 school children each year for a variety of educational trails and craft workshops. We are here not just for RE! Manchester Cathedral is an excellent venue for high-quality 'Learning Outside the Classroom' experiences and has much to offer.
All school visits must be booked into the Cathedral diary via the Education Department. Contact Pam Elliott, the Education Officer, to negotiate a date for your visit and discuss your requirements. Please note that the Education Officer is available on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays to book and lead educational visits.
The Education Team works with school groups of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, using the Cathedral space as a unique learning space, where pupils can draw on the Cathedral as an educational resource to develop their understanding across a wide range of curriculum areas – for example art, religious education, history, music, maths and geography. The emphasis is on enjoyment, with hands-on, interactive learning experiences.
